Title: Arithmetical symmetries of quantum torus maps. Speaker: John Keating, Bristol Abstract: The statistics of the quantum eigenvalues of certain families of nonlinear maps on the two-torus do not belong to the universality classes one would expect from the symmetries of the (classical) dynamics the maps generate. These anomalies are are caused by arithmetical quantum antiunitary (i.e. time-reversal-like) symmetries which do not have a classical limit. This represents a breakdown of the usual notion of quantum-classical correspondence for symmetry.
