Viscous Flow M3A10/M4A10
The syllabus for this course covers:
-
Derivation of the Navier Stokes Equations. Incompressible flow.
- Exact solutions of the equations of motion.
- General Principles of viscous flows. Reynolds number, dynamical
similarity and vorticity.
- Lubrication theory. How thin films can support heavy weights.
- Low Reynolds number flows (slow small and sticky). A video will be
shown illustrating this part of the course.
- High Reynolds number flows (fast, big and smooth). Boundary layer
theory.
